その昔、ヒトと動物は現在より身近な関係にありました。
現在、絶滅危惧種に指定されている動物達も、世界中で数多くの物語や伝説に登場しています。

日本においても各地で動物は神聖な生き物とされ、土地によっては妖怪などにも見立てられて、今なお語り継がれています。
彼らの物語からは、当時のヒトと動物達の共存のあり方を学ぶ事ができます。

SAMSARAの2020AW / 2021SSコレクションでは、「北海道のアイヌ文化」と「沖縄の琉球文化」にスポットライトをあて、
現地で語り継がれている “ヒトと絶滅危惧種の動物たちが織りなす民謡・神話の世界“をアパレルという形で解釈し、紐解きます。

“Story Tellers”が意味するのはその物語を伝えてきた全ての者、そしてその物語に登場し今も生き続ける動物達。
彼らの物語を身に纏い、この先の未来へ新たに物語を紡いでいく、これからの“Story Tellers”はあなたなのです。

Long before, people and animals had a much closer relationship.
Today, many endangered animals still play a role in myths and folklores around the world.

In Japan animals are respected as sacred creatures, some referred to as “Yokai” in local myths that have been passed down
to us to this day. Their stories teach us how humans and animals used to live side by side in coexistence.

SAMSARA’s 2020AW and 2021SS collections focus on Japanese northern “Ainu culture” and southern “Ryukyu culture”,
unravelling the tales of humans and endangered animals in forms of fashion.

“Story Tellers” are those who have been passing down these old tales; both humans as well as the creatures
that still exist in our world today as they do in these stories. Through the collections you will also become a “Story Teller”,
who will pass down these tales to the future.
